Real Madrid secured a 4-1 victory against RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Wednesday during the third matchday of the UEFA Champions League league phase. Bernardo Silva opened the scoring just before halftime, while Arda Güler, Kylian Mbappé, and former Leipzig player Yan Diomandé added goals in the second half to seal the win.

The hosts entered the fixture following three consecutive victories across all competitions, including a 4-1 domestic league win against Sevilla FC. Manager José Mourinho had emphasized during a pre-match press conference that the squad's primary objective in Europe was initial qualification and avoiding the playoffs rather than focusing on winning the title outright.

RB Leipzig traveled to Madrid aiming to rebound from a heavy 6-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Manager Martín Demichelis stressed the importance of courage and personality ahead of the match, noting that facing top-tier institutions required maximum concentration from his squad.

The first half saw shared domination until the Spanish side began pressing toward the end of the opening period. After Thibaut Courtois stopped a close-range effort from Rómulo and Vandevoordt denied Vinicius Jr., Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 44th minute. Following a buildup involving Federico Valverde and Arda Güler, Bernardo Silva converted the rebound to give the hosts a 1-0 lead at halftime.

After the break, the home side extended its advantage quickly. In the 52nd minute, a header from Kylian Mbappé following a cross by Jude Bellingham allowed Arda Güler to push the ball across the goal line for his second consecutive scoring appearance in the tournament. Kylian Mbappé added a third goal later in the half with a strike from outside the penalty area.

RB Leipzig briefly reduced the deficit through Gomis in the 89th minute, but nineteen-year-old winger Yan Diomandé finalized the scoreline shortly after. Entering the match from the bench against his former club, Diomandé connected with a pass from Brahim Díaz to execute a volley into the top corner.

With this result, Real Madrid recorded its third consecutive win in the European competition, reaching a total of nine points and a spot near the top of the standings. The team now turns its attention toward domestic preparations and the upcoming match against FC Barcelona.
