Police Scotland Investigates Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Over Balmoral Epstein Visits
Scottish law enforcement is reviewing visits made by the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to the private royal estate.
Scottish authorities have launched an investigation into the time that the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein spent with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at Balmoral, a private royal estate in Scotland. A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated that information had been received and active inquiries are ongoing, though they remain at a very early stage.
The ongoing police review focuses on evidence and prioritizes the needs of victim survivors. While a police spokesperson declined to confirm specific details regarding the ongoing process, British media reports indicate the investigation stems from allegations that women were trafficked to the Balmoral estate.
The scrutiny follows the release of files concerning Epstein, adding to mounting pressure on Mountbatten-Windsor. Formerly known as Prince Andrew before his brother, King Charles III, stripped him of his royal titles, he has faced intense public and legal examination over his historical connections to the American financier.
Photographs previously released by United States prosecutors in 2021 appear to show Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at Balmoral in 1999. Maxwell, a longtime associate of Epstein, is currently serving a federal prison sentence for sex trafficking and related crimes. Additional reports from earlier this year highlighted a September 2006 flight into Edinburgh Airport, where Mountbatten-Windsor and Maxwell allegedly traveled aboard Epstein's private jet.
Representatives for Mountbatten-Windsor have consistently and vehemently denied any wrongdoing in connection with his past association with Epstein. Buckingham Palace has maintained that it does not speak for Mountbatten-Windsor and refrains from commenting on active police investigations.
This new development compounds separate legal challenges facing Mountbatten-Windsor. In February, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office regarding his former role as a British trade envoy between 2001 and 2011. Authorities previously searched his homes after allegations emerged that he shared confidential and sensitive information with Epstein.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that the investigation into misconduct in public office, handled by Thames Valley Police, remains active alongside ongoing legal proceedings regarding previously obtained search warrants. King Charles officially removed Mountbatten-Windsor's remaining royal titles in October 2025 as the ongoing scandals continued to impact the British royal family.
