Police and crisis response teams responded to a hotel near the Munich central station on Wednesday morning after hotel staff discovered a dead child in a guest room. Authorities are currently investigating the incident as a homicide.

According to police statements, an adult relative of the boy was also found inside the room. Due to her medical condition, emergency responders transported her to a hospital for treatment. Investigators initially stated the victim was 12 years old before correcting his age to 13.

Hotel employees alerted the authorities at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. A hotel staff member received support from a crisis intervention team following the grim discovery, while forensics experts gathered evidence at the scene.

Law enforcement officials have not yet confirmed specific details regarding the cause of death or whether the boy sustained visible injuries. An autopsy has been requested to determine the exact cause of death.

While police have not formally named a suspect, media reports have suggested that the injured relative found in the room is the boy's mother and that investigators are exploring whether she may have harmed the child before attempting suicide. A police spokesperson declined to confirm or deny these reports, emphasizing that the Munich homicide squad is investigating all possible backgrounds.

By midday, normal visitor operations had largely resumed around the hotel, with only a few unmarked police vehicles remaining outside to indicate the ongoing investigation. Authorities continue to review surveillance footage and gather additional evidence as the inquiry proceeds.
