German Police Release Composite Sketch Following Attempted Burglary in Dietzenbach
Investigators in Hesse are appealing for public assistance and surveillance footage after two suspects fled a residential break-in.
German law enforcement authorities in the state of Hesse have launched a public search appeal, releasing a facial composite sketch alongside surveillance footage following an attempted residential burglary in the town of Dietzenbach. The Darmstadt Public Prosecutor's Office and the Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters issued the appeal on October 28, calling on members of the public to come forward with any information that might assist in identifying and apprehending the suspects involved.
According to official police reports, the break-in attempt occurred on the evening of July 2 on Lessingstrasse, specifically within the single-digit house number section of the residential street. Investigators noted that the incident unfolded at approximately 6:40 p.m. when two men targeted a private home. The timing and daylight conditions at the scene allowed nearby residents to observe parts of the crime before it could be fully completed.
Authorities stated that the perpetrators operated with distinct roles during the incident. One of the men positioned himself in the driveway of an adjacent property, functioning as a lookout to monitor the surroundings and detect any approaching individuals. Meanwhile, his accomplice attempted to breach the home directly, climbing through an accessible window into the interior of the residential building.
The unlawful entry was abruptly cut short when local witnesses noticed the suspicious activity and disrupted the ongoing crime. Alarmed by the sudden presence of onlookers, both suspects abandoned the break-in immediately. Preliminary findings by the criminal investigation department confirm that the perpetrators fled the area quickly and escaped without stealing any property from the residence.
In their joint statement, prosecutors and criminal detectives from Offenbach released the composite sketch along with two still images extracted from a nearby video security system. Investigators hope that circulating the visual material will prompt local residents or passersby to recognize the physical features, clothing, or general appearance of the lookout and his accomplice.
The investigating agencies have posed several specific questions to the community to aid the inquiry. They are urging anyone who can identify the individuals depicted in the composite sketch or surveillance photographs to contact law enforcement promptly. Detectives are also eager to hear from residents who may have seen the two suspects fleeing Lessingstrasse or noticed individuals matching their descriptions behaving suspiciously in other parts of Dietzenbach.
Furthermore, police are requesting that property owners and businesses located near Lessingstrasse check any private video recording systems, dashboard cameras, or security feeds that were operational during the early evening hours of July 2. Additional footage showing the suspects before or after the break-in could provide crucial clues regarding their route of escape or any vehicles used during the incident.
Witnesses with any information relevant to the case are asked to reach out to the Offenbach police department via telephone at 069 8098-1234. Law enforcement officials emphasized that even seemingly minor observations from community members could prove vital in establishing the identities of the suspects and holding them accountable for the attempted residential burglary.
