Palmeiras secured a 1-0 victory against Vasco da Gama on Sunday at the Nubank Parque in São Paulo, taking the advantage in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semifinals. The game's only goal was scored by Maurício, giving the hosts the upper hand ahead of the return match.

The buildup to the match required a massive logistical effort from the stadium staff. Following a music concert featuring Zeca Pagodinho, Alcione, and Jorge Aragão that concluded late Saturday night, approximately 500 professionals worked through a 16-hour turnaround to dismantle the musical stage and prepare the arena for Sunday afternoon's kickoff.

On the pitch, Palmeiras controlled much of the first half and created several scoring opportunities, though head coach Abel Ferreira lamented that his team failed to capitalize on more of their chances. Despite dominating possession and territory, the hosts had to settle for a single-goal margin.

The match was not without controversy regarding the officiating led by referee Anderson Daronco. Vasco da Gama vocally protested a potential penalty after a suspected handball by defender Alexander Barboza inside the penalty area, which was neither called on the field nor reviewed by the video assistant referee. Additionally, Vasco finished the match with ten men following the expulsion of Saldivia for a second yellow card.

Vasco manager Pedro Emanuel acknowledged that his team struggled to compete during the early stages of the encounter and faced difficulties with Palmeiras' intense pressure. However, the Portuguese coach praised his players for maintaining resilience, especially after going down a man late in the game, keeping the deficit minimal.

Looking ahead to the decisive second leg, which takes place next Sunday at São Januário in Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Emanuel expressed strong confidence in his squad. Emphasizing the backing of their supporters, the manager stated that the team remains entirely alive in the competition and will fight to overturn the score on home turf.
