The Pakistan national cricket team secured a convincing 87-run victory over England at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, strengthening their position at the top of the ongoing ODI tri-series standings. The win on Tuesday not only extended Pakistan's winning run in the tournament but also propelled them above Australia into fourth place in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's ODI team rankings.

Pakistan currently sits comfortably at the top of the tri-series table with four points from two opening victories, having previously defeated Sri Lanka by 37 runs. Meanwhile, England's opening defeat has left them under pressure at the bottom of the tournament standings, trailing Sri Lanka due to an inferior net run rate of -1.740.

Batting first after recovering from a precarious 81-4 and later 133-5, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 302-9 in their 50 overs. Hasan Nawaz led the charge with a top score of 79 runs off 74 balls. Valuable contributions also came from Saad Baig, who added 35 runs, and Faheem Ashraf, who provided a late flourish with a quickfire 39 off 26 deliveries.

All-rounder Arafat Minhas played a pivotal role in the match, first contributing a crucial 59 runs off 58 deliveries to help rebuild the innings. He then delivered a career-best bowling performance, claiming 6 wickets for 40 runs to dismantle the English batting line-up.

In response, England started their run chase positively with solid contributions from Tom Banton, who scored 57, and Ben Duckett, who added 45. However, the visitors failed to maintain their momentum through the middle overs and were ultimately bowled out for 215.

Minhas orchestrated England's collapse by removing key batters, including Will Jacks and Adil Rashid on successive deliveries, before completing a remarkable display by running out Gus Atkinson. The defeat leaves England in urgent need of a strong response in their upcoming fixtures.

England will look to secure their first points of the tournament when they face Sri Lanka on October 22 in Rawalpindi. Both teams enter that crucial matchup searching for a victory to keep their qualification hopes alive ahead of the tri-series final scheduled for October 31 in Lahore.
