Stade Rennais and Olympiacos played to a scoreless draw in a tightly contested Europa League fixture, leaving the Greek side in a provisional leading position in the group stage standings. Despite creating several clear scoring opportunities against the visiting squad, the French club was repeatedly denied by German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, who anchored the defensive effort to keep a clean sheet.

The visitors initiated the match with high intensity, threatening Brice Samba's goal early on. Colombian midfielder Gustavo Puerta struck the right post in the ninth minute, with the ball glancing off the Rennes goalkeeper's back. As the first half progressed, the duel leveled out, though Olympiacos came close to breaking the deadlock when Charlie Cresswell's header nearly slipped past the defense before Ortega intervened.

Midway through the first half, both teams settled into a tactical rhythm. Mousa Al-Tamari proved active for the home side, forcing Ortega to make a sharp save around the half-hour mark. Just before halftime, Bruno Onyemaechi escaped an unusual own-goal disaster when the VAR intervened to invalidate the play in the 44th minute, sending both teams into the locker room deadlocked at zero.

The second half mirrored the tight nature of the opening period. Although Stade Rennais pushed forward with greater danger, they lacked clinical finishing in the final third. Olympiacos attempted to unlock the defense around the hour mark under the direction of manager Imanol Alguacil, but a header from Gelson Martins was comfortably dealt with by the defense in the 68th minute.

As the clock wound down, Al-Tamari attempted to spark the offense at Roazhon Park with a low-driven shot, but it lacked the power to trouble the goalkeeper. In stoppage time, Valentin Rongier came closest to lifting the home crowd to their feet, but his right-footed strike was expertly stopped by Ortega in the 91st minute, sealing the scoreless stalemate.

Prior to the fixture, the match faced significant scheduling adjustments due to public safety concerns. Originally slated for a Thursday, the game was rescheduled to Wednesday following directives from local authorities and tournament organizers. Officials in Ille-et-Vilaine noted that a nationwide general strike in France required the full deployment of police forces to monitor protests in Rennes, leaving insufficient personnel to secure the stadium perimeter on the original date.

UEFA confirmed that it coordinated with the club executives of both Stade Rennais and Olympiacos to advance the kickoff time to Wednesday afternoon. This proactive measure successfully safeguarded public order while ensuring the international sporting event could proceed without disruptions or risks to local safety.
