Real Sociedad achieved a resounding 6-0 victory against Lillestrøm SK on Thursday, October 22, during the third round of the UEFA Europa League 2026-27 league phase. The match, held at the Åråsen Stadion in Norway, marked a significant milestone for the Spanish club as they secured their first win of the current continental campaign.

The visitors, managed by Pellegrino Matarazzo, dominated the proceedings from the opening stages. Sergio Gómez initiated the scoring in the 25th minute following an assist from team captain Mikel Oyarzabal. Just two minutes later, Gómez doubled his tally, again set up by Oyarzabal, who proved instrumental throughout the first half. By the 33rd minute, Luka Sučić added a third goal, ensuring the Spanish side entered the halftime break with a commanding 3-0 lead.

The second half continued in a similar fashion despite a brief moment of pressure from the hosts. Lillestrøm SK had an opportunity to find the back of the net when they were awarded a penalty following a foul by Jon Martín on Gustav Nyheim. However, Real Sociedad goalkeeper Unai Marrero successfully denied Thomas Lehne Olsen, maintaining the clean sheet for the visitors.

As the match progressed, Real Sociedad added three more goals to complete the rout. Orri Óskarsson found the net in the 65th minute after receiving a pass from Gonçalo Guedes. Luka Sučić secured his brace in the 72nd minute, and Arsen Zakharyan finalized the 6-0 scoreline with a left-footed strike from outside the penalty area in the 80th minute. This result equaled the largest margin of victory in the club's European history, matching a 6-0 win against Vardar in 2017.

With this victory, Real Sociedad has accumulated four points from their first three matches, having previously suffered a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth and a 1-1 draw against Union Saint-Gilloise. The Spanish team now sits in the 14th position of the league phase standings. Conversely, Lillestrøm SK remains with one point after suffering their second defeat of the tournament and conceding eight goals in the process.

Looking ahead, both teams will return to their respective domestic leagues before resuming European competition. Real Sociedad is scheduled to host Levante in LaLiga on Sunday, October 25, while Lillestrøm SK will face Brann in the Norwegian Eliteserien on the same day. In the fourth round of the Europa League, Real Sociedad will welcome Olympique de Lyon to the Anoeta stadium on November 5, and Lillestrøm SK will host Viktoria Plzeň.
