NHL Reveals Hometown Remix Jerseys for the 2026-27 Season
The National Hockey League and all 32 teams debuted a new collection of alternate sweaters that will be featured across 261 games this season.
The National Hockey League officially unveiled its Hometown Remix jerseys for all 32 teams on Monday, November 2, introducing a fresh collection of alternate sweaters for the 2026-27 campaign. Designed to appear for one season only, each franchise is scheduled to wear its new look several times throughout the year, with a total of 261 games featuring at least one team in the alternate design.
The rollout has sparked extensive discussion among hockey fans, drawing high praise for certain creative designs while disappointing critics with safer, less imaginative approaches. The Anaheim Ducks emerged as a fan favorite by leaning into the nostalgia of "The Mighty Ducks" film franchise, bringing back their iconic logo with a striking combination of green, gold, and purple.
Another standout design came from the Florida Panthers, whose coral-colored jerseys feature gold and black accents reminiscent of a Miami Vice aesthetic. The sweater includes a unique logo showcasing a palm tree, a hockey stick, and a sunset, paying a fitting tribute to Sunrise, Florida. Meanwhile, the New York Islanders leaned into the 1990s by bringing back their infamous fisherman logo, a polarizing look that has aged into a beloved throwback.
Conversely, some franchises faced criticism for a perceived lack of creativity. The New York Rangers opted for a conventional dark-blue jersey featuring diagonal lettering across the chest, while the Detroit Red Wings simply placed the word "Hockeytown" above their traditional winged-wheel emblem. The Chicago Blackhawks also missed the mark for critics by replacing their classic color scheme with a green background that critics noted resembled the Dallas Stars more than their own historic identity.
Among individual team releases, the Tampa Bay Lightning crafted a uniform deeply rooted in local history and landmarks. The Tampa Bay design incorporates the team's Stadium Series skull logo, the return of sky blue accents, and a primary lightning bolt emblem on the shoulder for the first time since the 2013-14 season. A subtle nod to the city is woven into the inside hem, featuring a detail inspired by the balustrade of Bayshore Boulevard.
The Lightning plan to debut their new uniform on November 14, 2026, continuing to wear the design for every Saturday home game for the remainder of the season. To celebrate the launch, the organization scheduled community activations across Tampa Bay, including projecting the Hometown Remix crest at select locations, placing limited-edition posters around the city, and decorating the Jose Gasparilla landmark with special banners.
Fans interested in purchasing the Lightning apparel can find options through the official team store, where nameless jerseys cost $199.99 and versions with player names and numbers are priced at $299.99. As teams prepare to hit the ice in their new alternate threads, the diverse collection offers hockey supporters across the country a fresh way to celebrate their local team identities.
