SSC Napoli is currently facing a challenging period in the 2026-2027 season, following a dismal series of results that includes a shocking 1-0 defeat to rock-bottom Venezia in Serie A play. Manager Massiliano Allegri has addressed his team's recent struggles, emphasizing the need for composure and focus as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.

The Partenopei are positioned ninth in the Serie A standings with 10 points after seven matches, recording three wins, one draw, and three losses. Their European campaign has also hit rough patches, placing them 22nd out of 36 teams in the UEFA Champions League with three points after three matches, following earlier defeats to Arsenal and Villarreal.

Speaking ahead of their next European fixture against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Allegri stressed that his players must maintain concentration throughout the entire ninety minutes. He pointed out that Champions League matches demand high organization and patience, particularly during the closing stages of games.

We need to play well on a technical level, as they are a team who defend well with a low block, and then avoid more than errors I'd say we trust our teammates too much and don't predict mistakes, which is what happened on Saturday against Venezia, Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

The manager also reflected on the defensive breakdown that allowed Venezia to secure their narrow victory over the weekend. He noted that the squad could have handled the situation better defensively, stating that late tracking back contributed directly to the decisive goal.

Squad depth has further complicated Napoli's campaign, with a growing absentee list that includes Alisson Santos, Antonio Vergara, David Neres, Costantino Favasuli, and Alessandro Buongiorno. However, there is some positive news regarding squad rotation, as midfielder Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa returned to action following a long injury layoff.

Allegri acknowledged the difficulties facing the club but expressed confidence in the players' underlying abilities. He maintained that the team must take collective responsibility to reverse their current form without yielding to panic.

There are moments where things go badly over the course of a season, but we've got to take responsibility to turn things around, without anxiety, because anxiety and haste lead to mistakes, Allegri concluded.
