Mendoza Experiences Temperature Drop Following Storms

A cold front brings cooler conditions to the region after a period of instability and storm warnings.

The province of Mendoza is transitioning toward cooler weather this Wednesday, November 4, as a cold front moves into the region. This change follows a period of significant atmospheric instability that prompted weather warnings earlier in the week.

According to the Directorate of Climate Contingencies, residents can expect a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, with a low of 12 degrees Celsius. The forecast indicates that the day will be partially cloudy, accompanied by moderate winds blowing from the southeast.

While the early hours of Wednesday may see isolated storms, meteorological conditions are expected to improve significantly by the afternoon. This shift marks a notable change from the previous day, when the National Meteorological Service had issued a yellow alert for storms across large portions of the province, including the southern, eastern, and north-central sectors.

Discrepancies exist regarding the exact temperature outlook for the day. While the Directorate of Climate Contingencies projects a high of 25 degrees Celsius, the National Meteorological Service anticipates a slightly cooler peak of 24 degrees Celsius for the Mendoza Observatory area.

The National Meteorological Service has also indicated that rainfall is unlikely for the remainder of the day in the observatory area. Winds are expected to shift from the southeast to the south, with speeds reaching up to 31 kilometers per hour during the afternoon, before settling back to lower speeds in the evening.

In the high mountain regions, the weather remains partially cloudy with the possibility of isolated precipitation. Authorities have been monitoring the area closely, particularly after recent reports of hail and the potential for Zonda winds in the foothills, which had previously prompted safety recommendations for the local population.

The current cooling trend follows a warm Tuesday, during which temperatures reached as high as 28 degrees Celsius. The arrival of the cold front is expected to stabilize the climate, providing a reprieve from the volatile conditions that characterized the start of the week.
