McDonald's Brings Back the 1955 Burger and McFarmer in Germany
The fast-food chain has launched a nationwide marketing campaign featuring the return of several fan-favorite menu items and nostalgic promotional products.
McDonald's Germany has reintroduced several discontinued promotional items to its menus nationwide, headlined by the return of the 1955 Burger and the McFarmer. The limited-time offerings launched on October 28, 2026, as part of a campaign titled "Finally back at Mecces."
The 1955 Burger, which was removed from the chain's regular German menu around early 2020 after an absence of approximately six years, features German beef, bacon, grilled onions, and a smoky sauce. McDonald's is also offering a chicken variation called the McCrispy 1955, made with a breaded chicken breast fillet, alongside a vegetarian option named the McVeggie Smoky.
Meanwhile, the McFarmer is marking a much longer absence, having been absent from regular promotional menus for over a decade. The updated recipe includes two patties made from German pork, cheese, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and a horseradish-mustard sauce, all served inside a sesame and sunflower seed bun.
Beyond the burgers, the retro lineup brings back brie-filled cheese pockets in a crispy breading, curly fries, and cheeseburger-style McShaker fries seasoned with a spice blend. Participating restaurants begin selling these promotional items at 10:30 a.m. in locations that serve breakfast, with availability limited to supplies lasting.
Alongside the food items, the company is running digital discount promotions called "Flashback Deals" from October 26 to November 24, 2026. Customers registered on the McDonald's app can purchase selected items—such as cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, French fries, McSundaes, and apple pies—for one euro each on designated days at participating locations, up to once per day.
Nostalgia plays a major role in the broader campaign, which also revives a toy concept from the 2000s and 2010s pop culture era. Small music radios that play short clips of popular songs are available for purchase as an add-on to specific meals between October 28 and November 24, rather than coming inside Happy Meals as they did in the past.
The miniature radios feature five new designs and play snippets of tracks by well-known artists including Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry, Cro, and Justin Bieber. These devices are available for an extra charge at participating restaurants, excluding certain orders like small or smart meals, while supplies last.
Operating in the country since 1971, McDonald's Deutschland runs nearly 1,400 restaurants nationwide. This latest campaign aims to connect with a large customer base by merging limited-edition menu items with digital discounts and pop culture nostalgia.
