McDonald's has confirmed that the McRib will return to select regional markets across the United States beginning Tuesday, October 27, arriving earlier than its traditional mid-November rollout. Unlike previous nationwide releases, the fast-food giant stated that the sandwich will only be available for a limited time in a specific group of cities.

Among the confirmed locations for the late October launch are Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Dallas, Cleveland, Seattle, and St. Louis. Customers hoping to purchase the sandwich are advised by the company to check the official McDonald's mobile application to determine if nearby restaurants are participating in the limited offering.

Despite the official launch date of October 27, tracking websites and local news outlets have reported early sightings of the sandwich in several additional cities. Consumers in locations such as San Antonio, Charlotte, Columbus, and Pittsburgh have already spotted or purchased the menu item ahead of the official rollout.

The McRib features a seasoned boneless pork patty shaped to resemble a rack of ribs, served on a homestyle bun with barbecue sauce, pickles, and sliced onions. Created by McDonald's executive chef Rene Arend with assistance from University of Nebraska professor Roger Mandigo's restructured meat research, the sandwich first debuted in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1981 before expanding nationally the following year.

McDonald's frequently rotates the sandwich in and out of its menu to generate consumer excitement and drive customer traffic. However, the sporadic availability has occasionally faced public scrutiny, including a class-action lawsuit filed in federal court in Illinois by customers questioning the ingredients and pricing structure of the product.

McDonald's has vigorously defended the product, maintaining that the patty consists entirely of boneless pork and high-quality ingredients including water, salt, dextrose, and rosemary extract. The company has not yet disclosed how long the regional availability will last or whether a nationwide rollout is planned for later in the season.
