Olympique de Marseille secured a 2-1 victory over RC Lens, maintaining domestic pressure while deepening the troubles for their hosts during Matchday 10 of Ligue 1 McDonald's. The encounter followed contrasting European fortunes for both clubs, as Lens entered the fixture reeling from a historic 9-1 defeat to Como 1906 in the UEFA Champions League, while Marseille claimed a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League.

The home supporters at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis made their dissatisfaction clear from the kickoff. A prominent banner displayed by the ultras declared the squad 'a disgrace to 120 years of history.' Those lingering scars surfaced immediately on the pitch when Lens gifted Marseille an opening goal in the second minute. Jonathan Gradit attempted a backpass that fell short, allowing Amine Gouiri to easily intercept and finish into an empty net.

Despite the disastrous start, Lens gradually worked their way back into the contest. The supporters temporarily set aside their frustrations to encourage the team, and the players responded. Florian Sotoca created an opportunity by delivering a precise cross, which former Marseille player Florian Thauvin headed home from close range to equalize before halftime.

The intensity of the first half largely faded after the break, resulting in a tighter and more cautious affair. Both goalkeepers were called into action periodically, with Marseille's Jeffrey de Lange denying Yacine Titraoui, while Lens goalkeeper Robin Risser made key interventions following his own difficult start to the match.

As the game appeared destined for a stalemate, Marseille broke through with just eight minutes remaining in regulation. Following good combination play down the left flank, Gouiri registered a scuffed shot that traveled directly to substitute Keyliane Abdallah. The winger fired home to secure the decisive goal and lift Marseille into fourth place in the standings ahead of the international break.

The defeat leaves Lens under significant pressure following back-to-back losses. Meanwhile, Marseille extended their strong run of form, recording their sixth victory in their last eight games across all competitions, including five consecutive wins in the French top flight.
