Lanús and Gimnasia de Mendoza Draw 1-1 in Torneo Clausura

Club Atlético Lanús and Gimnasia de Mendoza played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday at the Ciudad de Lanús-Néstor Díaz Pérez stadium during the 15th round of the 2026 Torneo Clausura. The visiting squad, managed by Darío Franco, overcame a first-half deficit to capture an important point on the road as the regular phase nears its conclusion.

The home team broke the deadlock in stoppage time of the opening half when Gonzalo Lobos capitalized on a teammate's header to score the game's first goal. The play capped off a difficult opening period for the Mendoza side, which entered the break trailing and looking to avoid its third consecutive defeat following prior losses to Vélez and Platense.

Gimnasia responded during the second half and leveled the score through an own goal by Raúl Loaiza, who inadvertently redirected the ball into his own net while attempting a clearance following two scoring chances by the visitors. The equalizer allowed the squad to salvage a draw at a demanding venue and halt a two-game losing streak.

With this result, Gimnasia reached 21 points in Zona A and remains actively engaged in the battle to secure a finish among the top eight teams, which would guarantee a spot in the round of 16. The team currently holds seventh position in the group standings.

Despite keeping their postseason hopes alive, Gimnasia's qualification will ultimately depend on results from other competing clubs within a tightly contested Zona A. Meanwhile, Lanús sits safely within the upper tier of the standings, having already secured its place among the top five teams.

Looking ahead to the final fixture of the regular phase, Gimnasia is scheduled to host its traditional regional rival, Independiente Rivadavia, at the Víctor Antonio Legrotaglie stadium in the upcoming edition of the Mendocinian classic. Concurrently, Lanús will travel to face Central Córdoba to conclude its regular season commitments.
