Knicks Defeat Nets 103-90 to Extend Winning Streak to 15 Games
New York pulled away in the fourth quarter at Madison Square Garden to secure its third win of the NBA season.
The New York Knicks defeated the Brooklyn Nets 103-90 on Monday night at Madison Square Garden, extending their winning streak against their crosstown rivals to 15 consecutive games. With the victory, the defending NBA champions improved their record to 3-4, while the Nets dropped to 1-6.
Brooklyn entered the matchup looking to build momentum after securing their first win of the season a night earlier against the Indiana Pacers. The Nets carried a 79-75 lead into the final period, positioning themselves to break a drought against New York that dates back to February 2023.
However, the Knicks mounted a decisive fourth-quarter surge, outscoring Brooklyn 28-11 over the final 12 minutes. New York capitalized on defensive stops and stellar bench play to erase the deficit and pull away for the double-digit victory.
Landry Shamet sparked the Knicks' second-half effort off the bench, leading all scorers with 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including four three-pointers and six made free throws. Jalen Brunson added 19 points and six assists, while OG Anunoby contributed 18 points.
Karl-Anthony Towns struggled with his shot early in the game, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting, but dominated the boards with a game-high 16 rebounds and five assists. Josh Hart anchored the defense for New York, recording eight points, seven assists, and six rebounds in 26 minutes.
Former Knicks forward Julius Randle led Brooklyn with 21 points and 11 rebounds against his former team, though he labored from the field by shooting 5-of-16. Michael Porter Jr. chipped in 18 points with four three-pointers, and Nolan Traore added 17 points.
The Nets suffered from a complete offensive stall in the final period as New York tightened its defensive schemes. Brooklyn shot 29-of-76 overall from the field, while the Knicks sank 17 of their 44 attempts from beyond the arc.
The Knicks will look to continue their momentum on Wednesday when they host the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden.
