The New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers face off on Friday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia for their second matchup of the season, marking the official start of group play in the NBA Cup. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time and will be broadcast live in the United States on Amazon Prime Video.

Philadelphia enters the contest with a strong 4-1 record to start the season. The team secured a 114-109 victory against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, building on momentum from earlier in the month. The 76ers previously defeated the Knicks 106-100 on opening night at Madison Square Garden on October 20, spoiling New York's banner-raising ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Knicks are looking to maintain a recent upward trajectory after opening their campaign with three consecutive losses. New York has rebounded by winning its last two games, including a high-scoring 133-127 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night at the United Center, where guard Jalen Brunson led the charge with 38 points.

Both teams feature prominent star talent and high expectations for the current campaign. Philadelphia has integrated new additions such as LeBron James and Jaylen Brown alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. However, the 76ers list Brown as questionable for Friday's game due to left knee soreness, while other roster members remain sidelined with various injuries.

For the Knicks, Karl-Anthony Towns has been a dominant force inside, averaging 21.8 points and 13.8 rebounds per game while shooting efficiently from the field. New York relies heavily on its rebounding strength, ranking near the top of the league in total and offensive rebounds, which could pose a challenge for a Philadelphia squad that has struggled defensively on the glass.

Friday's matchup carries added significance as the fourth iteration of the in-season tournament gets underway. The Knicks enter the competition aiming to defend their tournament title from last season, which preceded their deep playoff run. The outcome of this Eastern Conference Group B clash will set an early tone for both franchises as they pursue a potential postseason preview.
