Joanna Gaines Celebrates Daughter Ella’s 20th Birthday With Rare Footage

Joanna Gaines recently celebrated a major family milestone as her eldest daughter, Ella Rose Gaines, turned 20 years old. The HGTV star marked the occasion by publishing rare footage and throwback photos of Ella, offering her followers a glimpse into the family's private celebration at their home in Waco, Texas.

The social media tribute featured black-and-white video clips showcasing home decorations, including balloons shaped in the number 20 and a celebratory sign. The footage also captured a special cake inscribed with the word "Twenty," along with appearances from Ella's siblings as they gathered to celebrate her transition out of her teenage years.

Accompanying the video, Gaines wrote in the caption, "T W E N T Y. You are radiant. You shine. We love you so much Ella." The post quickly drew numerous reactions from fans who expressed surprise at how fast the young adult has grown since appearing on television as a child.

Ella is the second of five children shared by Joanna and her husband, Chip Gaines. The couple is also parents to Drake, Duke, Emmie, and Crew. Both Ella and her older brother Drake are currently attending college.

The birthday milestone comes shortly after Joanna opened up about experiencing mom guilt regarding her children leaving for higher education. During an appearance on Hoda Kotb's Joy 101 podcast in September, the television personality recalled crying while taking Ella to the airport for college, reflecting on times when she was building the family's business empire instead of being at home.

Joanna shared that she attempted to apologize to Ella for moments when she felt she was not fully present during her childhood. According to the mother of five, Ella pushed back against the apology, telling her, "Mom, are you serious? All you've taught me is I can do anything and everything."

Earlier in August, the design star also shared a heartfelt message addressing other parents navigating the emotional challenges of sending their children off to college. Reflecting on her own experiences during move-in day, Joanna wrote about holding on a little tighter before letting go and watching children grow beyond their parents.
