ITV Daytime Shows Canceled Due to Power Outage at London Studio

An overnight power cut in London disrupted live broadcasts for popular daytime programs including Loose Women, Lorraine, and This Morning.

Viewers across the United Kingdom experienced unexpected schedule changes on Wednesday when several of ITV's flagship daytime programs were pulled from live broadcast due to an overnight power outage affecting the broadcaster's Covent Garden studio base. The technical disruption impacted studio operations, preventing regular live broadcasts for Loose Women, Lorraine, and This Morning.

The scheduling issues first came to light when presenter Lorraine Kelly shared an update on social media while traveling to work. She informed followers that her morning chat show would not air because of the studio power failure. "There's been a little bit of a hoo-ha. There's a power outage at the studio, so my show won't be on today," Kelly stated, adding that she hoped to return to screens the following day.

While early expectations suggested that This Morning might air with a delayed start following anticipated repairs, ITV later confirmed that none of the three programs could go out live. An ITV spokesperson explained the situation to media outlets, stating, "Following a power cut overnight in the wider area where our Covent Garden studio is based, we are unable to broadcast Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women live today. We will return to our normal schedule as soon as possible."

The disruption triggered substantial last-minute reconfigurations across the morning and afternoon television lineup. Good Morning Britain, which is produced separately by ITN and operates out of a different location, had its broadcast extended to cover the time slot normally occupied by Lorraine. Meanwhile, viewers tuning in for This Morning were instead greeted by a pre-recorded compilation episode featuring previous highlights.

The afternoon panel show Loose Women faced a different replacement strategy altogether. Rather than broadcasting a compilation of its own best moments, ITV filled the 12:30 p.m. time slot with an episode of the gameshow Tipping Point: Lucky Stars, which featured highlights from the arcade-style series hosted by Ben Shephard.

The sudden changes prompted confusion among regular viewers who took to social media platforms to inquire about the missing live episodes. Broadcaster representatives have not yet announced a definitive timeline for when full studio operations will be completely restored, but emphasized that the schedule alterations were strictly temporary measures resulting from the local infrastructure failure.
