Indianapolis Colts Evaluate Trade Interest Ahead of NFL Deadline
Star running back Jonathan Taylor is drawing attention from multiple teams as the Indianapolis Colts navigate a period of roster restructuring.
As the November 10 NFL trade deadline approaches, star running back Jonathan Taylor has found himself at the center of widespread trade discussions. Following a series of moves that saw the Indianapolis Colts trade team captains Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, speculation has grown regarding whether Taylor will be the next key player to leave the franchise.
While league insiders report that the Colts are open to listening to offers and have received inquiries from several organizations, CBS Sports reported that team sources maintain Indianapolis is not actively shopping the running back or soliciting offers. The team reportedly turned down an offer that included a second-round pick and additional compensation, signaling that it would take a significant return to part ways with the veteran player.
Reports from ESPN indicated that the Colts' asking price for Taylor is comparable to the package the Carolina Panthers received from the San Francisco 49ers for Christian McCaffrey in 2022, which included second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-round draft picks. Taylor is currently under contract through the next two seasons after signing a two-year extension in August, adding to his value for potential suitors.
Several teams have been linked to Taylor in trade discussions, including the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Seattle Seahawks. Organizations such as the Vikings and Broncos face injuries and depth questions in their backfields, making a dynamic runner like Taylor an appealing option. Meanwhile, the Seahawks already acquired guard Quenton Nelson from Indianapolis, raising speculation about a potential reunion.
Despite the external rumors and mounting trade discussions, Taylor has expressed his commitment to Indianapolis. Following a meeting with Colts CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Taylor stated that he reaffirmed his dedication to the organization, although he noted that management did not provide absolute assurances regarding his long-term future with the team.
Through the first seven games of the season, Taylor has rushed for 587 yards and eight touchdowns, while adding 178 receiving yards. With a record of 2-5, the Colts face difficult decisions regarding the direction of their roster. Whether Indianapolis ultimately decides to keep their star running back or complete a blockbuster deal before the November 10 deadline remains uncertain as evaluations continue.
