Acclaimed actress Glenn Close recently turned heads on the red carpet with a dramatic new look while promoting her latest project. The 79-year-old star attended the United Kingdom fan screening of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in London, marking her first red-carpet appearance following a complete hip replacement surgery on her left hip.

For the London screening, Close debuted an elaborate platinum-blonde curly updo featuring slicked-back sides and voluminous curls piled high on her head. She paired the striking hairstyle with a moss-green taffeta gown from Simone Rocha's Fall 2026 collection, complemented by emerald statement earrings, a diamond bracelet, long black leather gloves, and a walking cane.

In the upcoming dystopian prequel film, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 20, Close portrays Drusilla Sickle, a Capitol escort described as a vain, shallow, and cruel predecessor to Effie Trinket. The character's extravagant fashion sense fits the theatrical approach to Capitol style central to the franchise.

Close also opened up about her extensive career during an appearance on Graham Norton Tonight, alongside fellow guest Michael Douglas. The conversation turned toward her role in Fatal Attraction and the film's infamous original ending, which test audiences rejected. She explained, "It really was very film noir, and the original ending had Alex, my character, slitting her throat and him going to jail, but American audiences didn’t like it during testing."

Reflecting on the studio's decision to alter the conclusion six months later, Close added, "So, I was asked to re-shoot the ending six months later, and I fought against it and was very cross as I didn’t see her as a psychopath." Despite never winning an Oscar across eight nominations, she noted that she is receiving an honorary Academy Award this year, joking, "I kind of hate to break my losing streak!"

In addition to her role in the Hunger Games prequel, Close recently made a cameo appearance in the Spanish film La Bola Negra, directed by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo. In the sprawling literary-historical epic, which explores queer themes across multiple decades and connects characters to the legacy of Federico García Lorca, Close takes on the role of an earnest Lorca scholar.
