Fresno State Snaps Oregon State's Five-Game Winning Streak with 38-22 Victory

Fresno State halted Oregon State's five-game winning streak on Halloween night, defeating the Beavers 38-22 at Valley Children's Stadium in Fresno, California. Playing in rainy conditions after a bye week, the Bulldogs clicked on all cylinders to hand Oregon State its first loss in weeks.

Quarterback Jayden Mandal led the charge for Fresno State, accounting for four total touchdowns. Mandal rushed for two scores, including a 15-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, and threw two touchdown passes to receiver Josiah Freeman. Mandal finished the game with 202 passing yards and 34 rushing yards.

The Fresno State defense put on a relentless performance, stifling an Oregon State offense that entered the matchup riding high. The Bulldogs recorded five sacks, including two by Dylan Hampsten, and forced two fumbles from Beavers quarterback Braden Atkinson. Oregon State had surrendered only nine sacks total through its first seven games of the season.

Despite the heavy pressure, Atkinson completed 33 of 59 passes for 373 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Eric Olsen with 1:45 remaining in the game. Tight end DeCorion Temple led the Beavers in receiving with 97 yards on six catches, while freshman receiver Jesse Legree added seven receptions for 70 yards.

Fresno State built a 21-9 lead by halftime, denying Oregon State multiple times in the red zone and forcing the visitors to settle for three first-half field goals by Caleb Ojeda. Bulldogs running back Bryson Donelson contributed a 63-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, finishing the night with 108 yards on the ground.

The loss drops Oregon State to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in Pac-12 play, leaving the Beavers in sole possession of second place in the conference. Fresno State improved to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference action, bouncing back from consecutive losses.

Oregon State will look to rebound when it returns home to host Texas State on November 7. Meanwhile, Fresno State will hit the road to face Utah State on the same day.
