No. 20 Boise State secured a dramatic 46-45 victory against Texas State on Saturday night at Albertsons Stadium in a high-stakes Pac-12 matchup. The Broncos erased a 25-point halftime deficit, overcoming a major injury to starting quarterback Maddux Madsen and a furious second-half rally by the Bobcats.

Boise State appeared to be in total control during the opening two quarters, dominating both sides of the ball to build a comfortable 28-3 lead at the break. The first-half surge included touchdown passes from Madsen to Rasean Jones and Keawe Browne, alongside two rushing scores. However, the momentum completely shifted after intermission.

Texas State roared back in the third and fourth quarters, scoring 36 unanswered points to stun the home crowd. Bobcats quarterback Brad Jackson and wide receiver Chris Dawn Jr. ignited the offense, while a 20-yard pick-six from Jayden Bradley off Madsen's first interception of the season gave Texas State a 39-28 lead with under nine minutes remaining.

The situation worsened for the Broncos when Madsen suffered a knee injury following a hit by Jo'Laison Landry with 8:19 left in the game. Madsen, who completed 24 of 33 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown while rushing for two scores, was forced to leave the field and was later spotted on crutches with his left knee heavily iced.

With the starting quarterback sidelined, backup Max Cutforth stepped in to orchestrate a legendary comeback. Cutforth completed 8 of 13 passes for 131 yards and three crucial touchdowns in the fourth quarter. He connected with Jones for an 11-yard score to pull Boise State within striking distance before delivering the game-winning 18-yard touchdown pass to Akeem Wright with 2:46 remaining on the clock.

Trailing by one point late in the game, Boise State's defense stood firm after the two-minute warning, forcing a critical fourth-down stop. Following Wright's touchdown catch, the Broncos held off the Bobcats to preserve the victory, improving their record to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

The thrilling finish preserves Boise State's positioning for the College Football Playoff race, while Texas State falls to 4-4 on the season after nearly pulling off a historic upset against a ranked opponent on the road.
