Adam Klapka and William Stromgren scored for Calgary, while San Jose unveiled its new city-inspired uniforms.
The Calgary Flames defeated the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on Monday night at the SAP Center, backed by goals from fourth-line wingers Adam Klapka and William Stromgren alongside 26 saves from goaltender Dustin Wolf.
Klapka opened the scoring for the Flames with a wrist shot off a feed from center Jonathan Castagna with 5:24 remaining in the first period. The visitors extended their lead at 9:14 of the third period when Stromgren batted in his first goal of the season, with assists credited to Klapka and Castagna.
The Sharks responded when defenseman Sam Dickinson beat Wolf with a wrist shot with 8:03 left in the third period, cutting the deficit to a single goal. San Jose goaltender Yaroslav Askarov stopped 20 shots in the effort.
With the victory, Calgary improved its record to 7-8-0 for the season, while San Jose fell to 7-8-1. The Flames are scheduled to play against Seattle on Wednesday night, and the Sharks will travel to face Los Angeles on the same evening.
The matchup also marked a special occasion for the home team, as the Sharks debuted their new Hometown Remix jerseys. According to a team press release, the new uniforms were designed around local landmarks, motifs, and culture, drawing heavily on the iconic Shark Head and the arena environment.
Doug Bentz, the San Jose Sharks senior vice president and chief marketing officer, emphasized the unique design philosophy behind the new look. "San Jose has never been a city that follows convention, and we wanted a jersey that reflects that same spirit," Bentz said, adding that the design brings together hockey, fashion, and culture for a new generation of fans.
The team plans to wear the Hometown Remix uniforms for seven additional games throughout the 2026-27 NHL season, including matchups against the Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
