Franco Mastantuono scored his fourth goal for Fiorentina on Monday in a 4-2 victory against Sassuolo on the road during Week 9 of the Serie A season. The strike marked the 19-year-old midfielder's first goal in 52 days, helping the visiting squad break a five-match winless streak in the Italian league.

Playing as a visitor, Fiorentina faced an early deficit when Armand Laurienté capitalized on a counterattack initiated by Sebastiano Esposito to beat goalkeeper David de Gea in the 24th minute. The Florence-based team equalized right before halftime when Mateo Pellegrino controlled a pass from Alieu Njie under defensive pressure and finished powerfully to make it 1-1.

The match intensified immediately after the break. Njie scored with a right-footed shot to give Fiorentina the lead, but Sassuolo quickly responded when Laurienté netted his second of the match from a tight angle to bring the score to 2-2.

The decisive moment arrived with 12 minutes remaining in regulation time. João Mário advanced down the left flank and found Pote, who set up Mastantuono inside the penalty area. The young player, on loan from Real Madrid and formerly of River Plate, struck a first-time left-footed shot into the corner of the net.

Victor Valdepeñas sealed the final score during stoppage time with his first career goal for Fiorentina, shortly after replacing Mastantuono. The victory brought Fiorentina up to eight points in the Italian championship, stemming from two victories, two draws, and six losses, as both squads look to distance themselves from the lower tier of the standings.

Fiorentina manager Paolo Vanoli praised the teenager's impact while managing his development carefully. 'Mastantuono has immediately demonstrated personality and intelligence despite his 19 years; he wants to put his talent at the service of the team,' Vanoli stated, adding that the midfielder still needs to learn when to dribble and when to pause to dictate the team's tempo.

Mastantuono acknowledged the heavy expectations surrounding his career following his high-profile transfer. 'The people are very demanding with me. The people of Argentina are very demanding, many times they are very hard with me, but I try to enjoy it,' he said, noting that he understands the exposure and criticism that come with being a professional soccer player.
