Eintracht Frankfurt Faces Hamburger SV in Second Round of DFB-Pokal

Eintracht Frankfurt faces a difficult challenge on Tuesday evening as the team travels to take on fellow Bundesliga side Hamburger SV in the second round of the DFB-Pokal. Coached by Adi Hütter, Frankfurt aims to avoid an early exit from the cup competition following a mixed start to their domestic league campaign.

Entering the match, the hosts from Hamburg sit slightly ahead in the league standings with nine points, while Frankfurt trails closely behind with eight points. The visitors are also dealing with recent off-field transitions, having recently parted ways with board member for sport Markus Krösche just over a week ago.

For Hamburger SV, interim coach Merlin Polzin faces significant squad constraints due to a lengthy injury list during a busy stretch of mid-week fixtures. The hosts will be missing seven professional players for the encounter, including Mario Vuskovic, Nicolai Remberg, Bilal Nadir, Fábio Vieira, Yussuf Poulsen, Nicolás Capaldo, and Jordan Torunarigha.

Given the tight schedule of English weeks, squad rotation and player management will be crucial for Hamburg. Following Tuesday night's cup clash at the Volksparkstadion, the two clubs will meet again on Sunday for a Bundesliga fixture at Frankfurt's Deutsche Bank Park.

Kickoff at the Volksparkstadion is scheduled for 18:00 local time. Fans seeking to follow the action have multiple broadcast and streaming options available through various media partners covering the tournament's second round.

Live television coverage in Germany is provided by Sky Sport, which holds the broadcasting rights for all 63 DFB-Pokal matches through the 2026/27 season, alongside a free-to-air broadcast partnership with RTL featuring commentary and expert analysis.
