Disney World to Host First-Ever Banana Ball Open Tournament in 2027

Banana Ball, a popular variation of baseball that blends traditional gameplay with new rules and theatrical entertainment, is expanding its relationship with Disney through a newly announced tournament. In April 2027, Walt Disney World will host all six teams in the Banana Ball league for a first-of-its-kind special event.

The inaugural tournament, officially named the Banana Ball Open, will consist of four games played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, a 260-acre athletics complex located at Disney World. Although only the top four teams will compete in the games, all six league teams will participate in the event. The roster includes the Savannah Bananas, Firefighters, Party Animals, Loco Beach Coconuts, Indianapolis Clowns, and Texas Tailgaters.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 15 to April 18, 2027. Players from all six teams officially revealed the upcoming Banana Ball Open on October 15, 2026, joined by Disney characters including Stitch, Pluto, Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Goofy, with each character representing a specific team.

Due to high anticipated demand and the overall popularity of the sport, ticket sales for all 2027 Banana Ball games, including the Disney World tournament, will be conducted exclusively through a lottery system. The ticket lottery opened following the announcement and runs through October 31, 2026, at 11:50 PM ET, allowing selected fans to purchase standard tickets for $35 or meet-and-greet tickets for $100.

This special event builds upon earlier collaborations between Disney and the organization. Earlier in the year, the Loco Beach Coconuts and the Party Animals participated in the first Banana Ball game ever played at Disney World. Additionally, Disneyland has hosted Savannah Bananas Day in the springtime for the past two years, featuring live character appearances and specialized menu items.

Reflecting on the partnership, Banana Ball founder Jesse Cole noted how he drew inspiration from Walt Disney's legacy of focusing on every guest and building something magical despite initial opposition. Speaking to crowds at Disneyland during previous celebrations, Cole emphasized the shared vision of believing in a unique experience that brings joy to fans at the happiest place on earth.
