Diego Ramos Eliminated from MasterChef Celebrity Argentina
The actor exited the culinary competition after failing to impress the judges with his gnocchi dish during the latest elimination gala.
The fifth season of MasterChef Celebrity Argentina saw a significant departure this week as actor Diego Ramos was eliminated from the culinary competition. During a high-stakes elimination gala, contestants were tasked with preparing various styles of gnocchi, a challenge that ultimately proved difficult for several participants. Ramos, who was the only contestant to prepare gnocchi made from semolina, served his dish with a mushroom, walnut, and blue cheese cream sauce, but the execution fell short of the judges' expectations.
The judging panel, which included Damián Betular and Maru Botana, noted technical flaws in the preparation. Specifically, the experts pointed out that the sauce had a consistency resembling a broken cream, and the gnocchi lacked the characteristic toasted finish required for semolina pasta. Despite Ramos's attempt to use a blowtorch in the final minutes to achieve a gratin effect, the judges determined that the dish did not meet the standards of the competition, leading to his departure on Tuesday, November 3.
The elimination followed a week of intense pressure in the MasterChef kitchen. Earlier in the week, guest judge Dolli Irigoyen replaced Germán Martitegui, bringing a rigorous and demanding tone to the show. During a challenge focused on Brazilian-inspired shrimp dishes, Irigoyen made headlines for her strict feedback regarding both culinary technique and professional conduct. She notably reprimanded Mike Amigorena for not paying attention during his evaluation, telling him to focus on his studies rather than being distracted.
Irigoyen also addressed the contestants' attire, sparking a debate about safety and professionalism in the kitchen. When several participants arrived wearing sleeveless shirts, the judge firmly stated that the kitchen was not a gym and that contestants needed to dress like professional cooks. She later clarified that sleeveless shirts and sandals are discouraged in the kitchen for safety reasons, as proper clothing helps minimize risks when handling stoves, hot oil, and sharp utensils.
The competition featured a variety of approaches to the gnocchi challenge. While some participants, such as Sebastián Presta, received high praise for their near-perfect execution of potato gnocchi with a mushroom and chicken cream sauce, others struggled with the balance of their ingredients. Participants like Lizy Tagliani, Pablo Migliore, and the China Ansa managed to secure their spots for the next round despite the difficulty of the task, which the judges described as one of the most challenging decisions of the season.
The episode also featured a special guest appearance by Guillermo Cóppola, who shared anecdotes from his time in Italy with Diego Maradona. His stories provided a brief respite from the tension of the kitchen, though the focus quickly returned to the culinary results. As the competition moves forward, the remaining contestants must continue to refine their skills under the watchful eyes of the judges, who have signaled that they will maintain a high level of scrutiny throughout the rest of the season.
