Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was hospitalized with a serious neck injury during the team's Week 8 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter at Ford Field when Campbell made a tackle on Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson.

The 26-year-old defender remained motionless on the turf for more than 10 minutes as medical personnel and training staff rushed to his side. Players from both teams watched with concern, and Lions teammates took a knee while defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was visibly moved to tears during the lengthy delay.

Medical staff immobilized Campbell, loaded him onto a backboard, and transported him off the field via cart before taking him to a local hospital. The scene left players and coaches shaken, casting a somber shadow over what became a 19-15 victory for Detroit.

Following the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell addressed the locker room and led his players in prayer for their injured teammate. "I do not have any more information on Jack, we don't know anything else at this point," the coach told the team. "So here's what I want to do man, we're going to take a knee now I want to pray for Jack and let's keep him in our thoughts and prayers man."

Late Sunday night, the Detroit Lions released an official statement announcing that Campbell was resting and would remain overnight at a local hospital for continued evaluation and monitoring. The franchise noted that further updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available.

Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson, who was involved in the play, expressed his support after the game. "Prayers out to Jack Campbell, man, and his family," Hockenson said. "That's an Iowa guy, I know Jack. I want to send good vibes to him and his family and his locker room. We're competitors, but at the end of the day, we're on the same team."

Campbell is in his fourth NFL season after being selected by the Lions in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Iowa. Prior to sustaining the neck injury, he had not missed a single game in his professional career.
