Daft Punk and Lego Announce Official Set Based on 2007 Tour Pyramid
An iconic fan-created concept from the 2020 Lego Ideas challenge is officially becoming a reality.
The electronic music duo Daft Punk is officially joining the Lego universe through a new partnership centered on their famous 2007 Alive tour pyramid stage. The collaboration, announced jointly by the toymaker and the musicians, originates from a fan-built model that won a Lego Ideas contest during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns in 2020.
The initial concept was created by Patrick Harboun and his son from Luxembourg as a lockdown project. The glowing pyramid stage featured approximately 2,000 pieces and included a motorized, rotating box of transparent bricks inside to recreate the visual experience of the tour. After gathering support on the Lego Ideas platform and spending time in the company's review process, the project was officially greenlit.
"This all started as a creative escape during lockdown between my son and I because of our shared love of Daft Punk and Lego-building," Harboun stated. "We never dared imagine it would take off in this way. Watching our passion project become part of an official collaboration is an incredible experience."
The partnership was first teased during a YouTube transmission on the "WDPK 83.7" stream, featuring a red holographic Lego brick that doubled as a speaker. Following the teaser, Lego released a promotional video showing minifigure versions of Daft Punk members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo following the holographic brick into a dark landscape where their console materializes. The promotional video is soundtracked by the tracks "Voyager" and "Human After All."
Cédric Hervet, creative director for Daft Punk, noted the significance of the stage design in the group's history. "The pyramid stage is one of the most recognizable expressions of Daft Punk's visual world, so it feels fitting that this fan-created design will be center stage of this partnership," Hervet said. "Fans have always played an important part in Daft Punk's story, and we are excited to see that creativity reflected through the Lego universe."
While the initial product announcement focuses on the pyramid set, representatives from both brands indicated that this release is only the beginning. Julia Goldin, chief product and marketing officer at the Lego Group, described the alliance as a broader journey spanning products, content, and brand experiences designed to engage music and building fans alike.
Lego has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the pricing or exact release date for the Daft Punk set, though officials noted that more information will arrive in the coming months and that full developments are expected in 2027. Official Lego designers are currently collaborating with Harboun to finalize the structural and commercial aspects of the model.
