Corinthians secured a crucial 2-0 victory against Mirassol on Friday at the Neo Química Arena during Matchday 33 of the 2026 Campeonato Brasileiro. Under the guidance of manager Clarence Seedorf, the home side managed to breathe new life into their campaign to avoid relegation, securing three vital points in front of their supporters.

Prior to this matchup, Timão had been enduring a difficult stretch, remaining winless in ten consecutive league matches. Their last victory in the competition dated back to August 9 when they defeated RB Bragantino 2-0. Despite the three points gained against Mirassol, the club from Parque São Jorge remains within the relegation zone, moving up from 18th to 17th place with 36 points total.

The battle against relegation in the Brazilian top flight remains tightly contested, with just three points separating the 11th-place side from the drop zone. Following Friday's results, Corinthians sits just behind Mirassol, who occupy 16th place with 37 points. Meanwhile, Internacional dropped to 18th place with 35 points after a defeat to Fluminense.

Seedorf made adjustments to his lineup ahead of the fixture, bringing in Kaio César in place of Dieguinho compared to the side that faced Vasco. The squad had prepared intensively throughout the week at CT Joaquim Grava, reviewing tactical videos of Mirassol and conducting physical and possession drills under the coaching staff's supervision.

Rehabilitation updates also surrounded the team leading up to the game, as midfielder Raniele completed his first on-pitch run in trainers during Wednesday's training session. Raniele has been recovering from a lateral meniscus injury in his right knee sustained during an October derby against Palmeiras, with medical staff projecting a return in the coming weeks.

With the win safely secured, Corinthians must quickly turn their attention to their next fixture in the demanding Serie A schedule. The team is set to travel to face São Paulo at the Morumbis stadium on November 4, as they continue their desperate pursuit of safety and survival in the top flight of Brazilian football.
