Como delivered a stunning performance in front of their home supporters, thoroughly outplaying Manchester United to secure a 4-1 victory during the third round of the UEFA Champions League. The Italian side capitalized on early mistakes and maintained control throughout the match to hand the English giants a decisive defeat.

Manchester United struggled from the opening whistle, failing to establish a consistent rhythm. Captain Bruno Fernandes admitted after the game that his team once again started poorly and conceded an early goal, which immediately shifted the momentum against them.

"Obviously, this is not the first time this kind of defeat has happened to us," Fernandes remarked. "We started very bad and conceded an early goal. I think we lacked pressing on the player with the ball and we didn't have many good moments. Things didn't go our way, so from the beginning we were in a bad mood, as if we sensed defeat."

Addressing the tactical setup implemented by the coaching staff, the Portuguese midfielder clarified that the players on the field were strictly following instructions. The strategy involved holding back rather than applying intense man-to-man pressure across the pitch.

"The coaching staff's decision is that we do not play tight man-to-man pressing and that sometimes we leave a little space behind us to win the ball in the initial phase," Fernandes explained. "The idea is to wait for the opponent and give up possession. However, when you allow such teams to have the ball too much, they gain confidence."

Despite the tactical debate, manager Michael Carrick chose not to address his captain's comments directly. Instead, Carrick focused his post-match remarks on expressing deep regret and apologizing to the traveling fans for the disappointing display.

"I care so much about the fans. They are the heart of this club and always will be," Carrick stated. "I have to apologize to them for what we showed. Considering everything they did to come here tonight and then having to watch a performance like this, I really sympathize with them."

The defeat leaves Manchester United under mounting pressure as they navigate a difficult stretch of their season, while Como continues to showcase impressive ambition and development on the European stage.
