Como secured its fourth consecutive victory by defeating Venezia 1-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Sunday, moving up to fourth place in the Serie A standings. Cesc Fàbregas's side capitalized on their territorial and possession dominance throughout the match, ultimately deciding the contest via a first-half penalty kick.

The hosts controlled the tempo from the opening whistle, restricting Venezia to a deep defensive block configured by manager Davide Nicola. Despite dominating possession, Como initially struggled to break through the organized visiting defense, though early chances fell to Tasos Douvikas and Lucas da Cunha, both of which were turned away by Venezia goalkeeper Filip Stanković.

The match's first major turning point occurred near the half-hour mark when referee Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi initially awarded a penalty to Venezia after a shot by Gianluca Busio struck the arm of Como's Milla inside the penalty area. However, following a lengthy video assistant referee review, the referee reversed the decision, ruling that the contact was not punishable.

Como responded to the reprieve by increasing their offensive pressure. Shortly before halftime, Martin Baturina combined with Douvikas near the danger zone, leading to a foul by Venezia defender Juan Jesus on the Greek forward. Referee Ferrieri Caputi pointed to the spot, and Lucas da Cunha stepped up in the 43rd minute to convert the penalty high into the corner, beating Stanković and scoring his first goal of the season.

The second half followed a similar tactical pattern, with Como maintaining control through sustained possession and limiting Venezia's attacking opportunities. Baturina tested Stanković early in the second stanza with a curling right-footed effort that the goalkeeper managed to push away. Venezia introduced substitutes including John Yeboah, Kike Pérez, and Tomica Bašić to inject energy into the attack, but they managed only a few low-threat efforts on goal handled by Como goalkeeper Arthur Butez.

Fàbregas utilized his bench in the later stages to manage player fatigue ahead of upcoming fixtures, withdrawing key figures like Da Cunha, Nico Paz, and Baturina. Venezia continued to struggle offensively and failed to mount a serious equalizer as Como successfully managed the clock with superior passing accuracy.

With this result, Como climbs to 23 points in the table, standing just two points behind Inter Milan as they prepare for a challenging stretch that includes a European fixture against Lens and an upcoming league match against Inter. Meanwhile, Venezia remains at the bottom of the league standings with three points after suffering their ninth defeat in ten matches.
