Tasos Douvikas Scores Twice as Como Defeats Sassuolo in Serie A

Como continued their strong run of form by defeating Sassuolo 2-0 in Serie A action at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. Following an impressive 4-1 Champions League victory against Manchester United, manager Cesc Fabregas rotated his squad but still secured all three points to close in on league leaders Inter.

The hosts thought they had opened the scoring early when Lucas Da Cunha put the ball in the net after seven minutes, but the assistant referee raised the offside flag. Both sides continued to trade opportunities through the first half, though Como controlled much of the tempo.

Sassuolo also experienced frustration before halftime when Kieron Bowie was flagged offside in the build-up before rolling across for Darryl Bakola to turn the ball in. Despite missing several players due to injuries and managing rotation, Como maintained consistent pressure on the visiting defense.

Unsatisfied with the scoreless first half, Fabregas introduced a triple substitution during the break, bringing on Jayden Addai, Luis Milla, and Jacobo Ramon. The tactical adjustments paid off almost immediately after the second-half restart.

Como broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when Maxence Caqueret won a challenge in midfield and sent Bruno Kaiki down the left flank. Kaiki delivered a precise cross into the box, allowing Tasos Douvikas to sweep the ball home and give his side the lead.

Douvikas extended the advantage on the hour mark by completing his brace. Kaiki intercepted a pass in midfield, burst down the left wing, and provided another pull-back for the Greek striker, who slid in from ten yards out to seal the result.

The victory brings Como to 17 points, marking a club record after eight matchdays in a Serie A campaign. Fabregas's side generated 1.65 expected goals while limiting Sassuolo to just 0.24, comfortably managing the remainder of the match to cap off a stellar week for the club.
