Communities across the United States are celebrating the Halloween season with organized trunk-or-treat events, providing safe and festive alternatives to traditional neighborhood trick-or-treating. From local police precincts and fire stations to military installations and community plazas, participants have gathered to decorate vehicles and distribute candy to children.

In Norfolk, Virginia, the Norfolk Police Department hosted its fourth annual Pranks on the Plaza trunk-or-treat event outside the Scope Arena. The gathering drew large crowds of families, offering children a secure environment to enjoy the holiday while interacting positively with local law enforcement officers.

"All the unity that's out here tonight, and all the police coming together and encouraging fun and having the kids come out and experience, this is wonderful," attendee Kimberly Person said. Lieutenant Aprell Copeland of the Norfolk Police Department noted that the event aims to build long-lasting, meaningful connections with young community members through shared, positive experiences.

Similarly, military personnel and families marked the season at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina, which hosted its ninth annual Trunk-or-Treat and Boo Bash. Organized by Marine Corps Community Services, the event featured more than 30 decorated vehicle trunks designed around various popular themes.

Competition was fierce among participating units at Cherry Point. First place went to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28 for a Jurassic Park-themed display, followed by Marine Air Support Squadron 1 in second place with a Minecraft theme, and Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 542 in third place with a Ghostbusters theme.

In Detroit, Michigan, municipal celebrations included trunk-or-treat activities across every police precinct and numerous fire engine houses. City officials coordinated more than 21 locations offering family fun, carnival games, face painting, and haunted houses to ensure widespread access to holiday festivities.

Other regions also embraced the festive weekend with specialized gatherings. In the Colonie and Albany area of New York, Racers 4 Autism organized an inclusive trunk-or-treat event designed specifically for children with special needs, featuring displays of race cars alongside traditional Halloween treats.

Across these diverse locations, organizers emphasized community engagement, safety, and inclusivity, creating memorable Halloween experiences for participants of all ages.
