Choreographer Veronica Peparini recently fell victim to a sophisticated phone scam that left her with only four euros in her bank account. The 55-year-old artist shared her unsettling experience with her followers through a series of Instagram stories, hoping to warn others about the dangers of telephone fraud.

The incident began when Peparini received a call regarding her debit card, which was nearing its expiration date. The caller claimed to be a representative from her bank branch, specifically mentioning details that matched her real-life situation, including discussions about delivering a new card to her address.

Because the initial information provided by the caller was accurate, Peparini let her guard down. She explained that she believed the call was legitimate because all the details mentioned by the person on the other end of the line were completely true.

The turning point of the scam occurred when the fraudster asked her to provide personal data to update her online banking services. Believing the request was a necessary security procedure, the choreographer handed over her confidential banking details.

The full extent of the deception became clear the following morning when Peparini checked her balance and discovered her funds had been drained. "Practically this morning I had 4 euros in the account. Not that I had all these assets in the sun," she remarked bitterly, using a touch of irony to cope with the sudden financial loss.

Adding insult to injury, the caller even exploited her public persona during the conversation. According to Peparini, the scammer recognized her and asked her to record a video greeting for his daughter. Caught off guard, the choreographer politely agreed without suspecting anything amiss.

Reflecting on the bizarre twist, Peparini expressed her frustration over complying with the request. "And like a fool I even made the greeting to the daughter. You're a jerk," she stated during her video recount, clearly angered by the manipulation.

Following the disclosure of her ordeal, Peparini published the phone number associated with the incoming call on her Instagram account to alert the public. The call had taken place the previous afternoon shortly before 4 p.m., ultimately achieving the perpetrator's goal of emptying her account.
