Carlos Alcaraz holds an automatic bye to the second round of the Paris Masters, where he will face the winner of the match between Alex Michelsen and Basel Open finalist Jiri Lehecka. The tournament brings together some of the world's best tennis players as the professional season enters its final stages.

Meanwhile, fellow Spaniard Rafael Jodar has captured attention by breaking into the ATP top 10 just 287 days after making his ATP Tour debut. Jodar shattered the previous record held by Gustavo Kuerten, who took 490 days to reach the top 10 after his own tour debut.

Jodar recently advanced to the second round of the Paris Masters after defeating Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The 20-year-old will next compete against former world number two Casper Ruud in Paris.

During his pre-tournament press conference, Alcaraz shared his perspective on Jodar's incredible milestone and meteoric rise. While noting that the youngster is not yet a primary threat on the court, Alcaraz praised his humility and talent.

Alcaraz stated during the media briefing that watching Jodar play is a privilege and a joy. He added that sharing the top 10 ranking with another Spanish player is wonderful for the sport and that Jodar certainly deserves his current position.

Beyond individual tournament action in Paris, Alcaraz and Jodar are scheduled to team up later this month. Both athletes will represent Spain at the upcoming Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, Italy.

Spain is set to face Austria in the Davis Cup quarter-finals on November 26. The Spanish squad, which also includes Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Pedro Martinez, and Marcel Granollers, aims to claim its first Davis Cup title since 2019.
