Callum Turner and Other Finalists Enter Final Screen Tests for James Bond Role
Amazon MGM Studios is conducting final screen tests for the next 007, with British actor Callum Turner among a select group of finalists.
The search for the next James Bond is reaching its conclusion as Amazon MGM Studios initiates final screen tests for the iconic role of British agent 007. British actor Callum Turner is reportedly among a small group of finalists participating in the evaluation process in London.
According to reports from industry outlets such as Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, the comprehensive auditions begin as early as Friday and involve a select handful of candidates. Alongside Turner, actors Jack Lowden and Josh O'Connor have also been corroborated as finalists in the running for the coveted part.
While rumors have previously swirled regarding various other prominent names, sources have clarified that actors like Jacob Elordi and Jack O'Connell are not involved in the current round of testing. Amazon MGM Studios has declined to comment on specific casting details as the process moves forward.
The rigorous screen tests are designed to evaluate the finalists across three key components: stunts, dialogue, and overall camera presence. These evaluations are taking place under the direction of filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, who is slated to helm the new Bond movie following the studio's acquisition of full creative rights.
Casting director Nina Gold has spearheaded the audition process for the upcoming feature, which is being produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman. Although a definitive timeline for the official casting announcement has not been formally established by the studio, industry expectations point to an announcement before the end of the year.
Production on the new project is anticipated to begin next year, signaling a fresh era for the franchise under Amazon MGM Studios. The forthcoming film will mark the first installment in the series since the studio took complete creative control of the intellectual property.
Turner, known for his critically acclaimed television and film work including The Capture and Masters of the Air, has previously navigated inquiries regarding the role with discretion. When asked about the speculation earlier this year during a film festival appearance, Turner responded, "It's very early for that question," adding, "I'm not going to comment on it."
