Bayern Munich and Arsenal played to an intense 2-2 draw on Wednesday evening during the third round of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The hard-fought match at Munich saw both European heavyweights trade goals, with Arsenal managing to maintain its unbeaten run in the competition thanks to a late tactical response.

The English visitors struck first in the 25th minute when Eberechi Eze, who had entered the match early following an injury to Bukayo Saka, beat goalkeeper Manuel Neuer with a sharp volley. The opportunity was created by captain Martin Odegaard, who sent a precise pass just on the edge of the offside line.

Bayern Munich responded ten minutes later when Harry Kane delivered an accurate pass that set up Alphonso Davies for the equalizer in the 35th minute. Both goalkeepers were subsequently tested early in the second half, with Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya blocking a header from Dayot Upamecano and Neuer denying Eze a second goal.

The match shifted again in the 61st minute when Harry Kane successfully converted a penalty kick to put the German side ahead. However, Arsenal responded in the 82nd minute through Declan Rice, who finished a coordinated attacking sequence in the Bavarian penalty area to level the score at 2-2.

This result leaves Bayern Munich with five points out of a possible nine in the early stages of the league phase, having previously been held to a draw by Viking FK. Meanwhile, the London club continued its strong European campaign, standing among the teams near the top of the standings.

At the summit of the table, Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa hold the top two positions with nine points each, separated only by goals scored. Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Real Betis also share the nine-point threshold after victories in their respective fixtures.

Elsewhere in the Champions League, Real Madrid cruised past RB Leipzig with a 4-1 victory, featuring goals from Bernardo Silva, Arda Guler, Kylian Mbappe, and Diomande. Aston Villa defeated Viking FK 3-1, and Inter Milan secured a narrow 1-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk despite playing a man down after Alessandro Bastoni was sent off.

The night also featured notable surprises, as LASK Linz secured a 3-2 victory away against Sporting Lisbon. In other matchups, Como defeated Manchester United 4-1, Club Bruges topped Lens 3-0, and Galatasaray overcame Lille 4-2.
