The 17-year-old Georgian talent faces a multi-month recovery period before his scheduled move to London in 2027.

Arsenal’s future signing Andria Bartishvili has suffered an ankle ligament injury that will keep him out of action for several months. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, currently on loan at the Georgian club Iberia 1999 from Kolkheti 1913, sustained the damage to his Anterior Talo-Fibular Ligament during recent play. The injury is expected to sideline the teenager for two to three months, effectively ruling him out of competition for the remainder of the current calendar year.

Iberia 1999 confirmed the diagnosis following an MRI scan, stating that the player will undergo a structured rehabilitation program in Tbilisi. While the injury is a significant setback for the young prospect, medical reports suggest that he is expected to complete his recovery and return to the pitch before the end of the season. Because Bartishvili remains under contract with his Georgian clubs until his move to England, his rehabilitation will be managed locally rather than by the Arsenal medical staff.

The injury arrives during a pivotal developmental year for the versatile attacker. Bartishvili had been building momentum through senior appearances and his progression into the Georgia Under-21 national team. Under-21 head coach Ramaz Svanadze has previously praised the teenager's mentality and potential, noting that while the high intensity of English football will present a significant challenge, the player possesses the talent required to compete at the highest level.

Arsenal secured a pre-contract agreement for the teenager earlier this year, with the transfer set to take effect in July 2027 when he reaches his 18th birthday. The club’s strategy for the signing involves a gradual integration, with plans for him to begin his tenure within the academy and under-21 squads. This approach aligns with the club's broader initiative to recruit and develop top-tier young talent from both domestic and international markets to ensure long-term squad depth.

Despite the interruption caused by the injury, Arsenal’s commitment to the player remains unchanged. The club continues to monitor his progress from a distance, viewing the setback as a manageable obstacle in the career of a young athlete. The primary focus for Bartishvili will be achieving full joint stability through his rehabilitation, which will allow him to regain match sharpness and resume his development before his eventual arrival at the Emirates Stadium.

Bartishvili is part of a wider recruitment drive by Arsenal aimed at securing promising youth prospects globally. His development will be closely watched by the club, as they look to prepare him for the physical and tactical demands of the English game. Provided his recovery proceeds without complications, the teenager is expected to link up with Mikel Arteta’s squad for pre-season training in the summer of 2027.
