Arsenal secured a statement 1–0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, taking command of the Premier League table nine games into the season. An early strike from Kai Havertz proved decisive as Mikel Arteta's side relied on disciplined defensive organization to withstand intense pressure from the hosts.

Despite dominating possession and registering 17 total shots, Liverpool failed to record a single effort on target for the first time since records began in the 2003–04 season. The milestone snapped a streak of 422 league fixtures at Anfield without a blank in shots on target, leaving the Reds nine points behind the league leaders.

The result significantly bolstered Arsenal's status as favorites to retain the league title, especially following Manchester City's defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion a day prior. Opta's supercomputer forecasts that the reigning champions now hold more than a 68 percent chance of keeping the trophy in north London, while Manchester City's probability dropped below 19 percent following consecutive losses.

Brighton continues to make waves under Fabian Hürzeler after defeating both of the top two teams, placing the Seagulls firmly in the race for a UEFA Champions League spot alongside Arsenal and Manchester City. Liverpool and Chelsea maintain favorable odds for a top-five finish, while Tottenham Hotspur has climbed the standings following three consecutive victories.

At the other end of the table, Manchester United's struggles deepened after an extended winless run dropped them to 17th place with seven points. The Red Devils face a more than 22 percent probability of relegation according to current projections, though Sunderland sits at the bottom of the standings with five points and the highest odds of dropping down at 47.62 percent.

Crystal Palace and Coventry City are also projected to face severe challenges in the battle to avoid the drop. Meanwhile, newly promoted sides Ipswich Town and Hull City draw encouragement from historical statistics, as no team with at least 11 points after nine games has been relegated since the 2010–11 campaign.
