Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson Star in The Man with the Bag

Amazon MGM Studios has released the official trailer for its upcoming holiday action comedy "The Man with the Bag," which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus and Alan Ritchson as a petty criminal recruited to save Christmas. The movie is scheduled to premiere globally on Prime Video on December 2.

In the film's plot, Santa's iconic red bag is stolen by a rogue elf with a grudge named Nadia, who has developed a special fondness for shiny objects and is played by Awkwafina. With his biggest night of the year rapidly approaching, Santa is unable to handle the crisis alone and turns to Vance, a thief from his naughty list played by Ritchson.

Vance agrees to help recover the missing sack and save the holiday, but his assistance comes at a high price, demanding five million dollars for the job. He quickly assembles a crew of criminally skilled misfits, utilizing a little help from elves and reindeer, to pull off an unexpected heist.

The project marks Schwarzenegger's first Christmas movie in thirty years, following his appearance in the 1996 comedy "Jingle All the Way." The feature is directed by Adam Shankman, known for family comedies such as "The Pacifier" and "Cheaper by the Dozen 2," from a screenplay written by Allan Rice.

The supporting cast features Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Ken Jeong, and Jane Krakowski, with a musical score composed by John Debney. Producers include Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Reg Tigerman, Dan Spilo, and Alan Ritchson.

Following the release of the trailer, social media users and fans drew immediate comparisons between "The Man with the Bag" and Dwayne Johnson's 2024 holiday film "Red One." Both projects share Amazon MGM Studios as their distributor, center on action-comedy premises involving Santa Claus, and pair a Santa figure with a rogue character forced into holiday heroics.

In addition to her film projects, Awkwafina was recently among the VIP guests attending the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
