Arizona Freshman RJ Mosley Carted Off Field With Injury Against Texas Tech
The top-rated recruit suffered a left-knee injury late in the third quarter of No. 22 Arizona's game against No. 13 Texas Tech.
Arizona freshman wide receiver RJ Mosley was carted off the field on Saturday during No. 22 Arizona's Big 12 matchup against No. 13 Texas Tech after sustaining an apparent left-knee injury. The incident occurred late in the third quarter following an 8-yard reception from quarterback Noah Fifita on third-and-18.
Medical staff immediately tended to Mosley on the turf as concerned teammates gathered around the freshman player. ESPN College Football and other users shared video footage and updates of the scene on social media as the Wildcats surrounded Mosley before he was taken off the field.
During the broadcast, play-by-play announcer Dave Pasch informed viewers that the network would not show a replay of the sequence. Immediately following the game, Arizona had not yet provided an official diagnosis, leaving the exact severity and extent of the injury unclear.
Mosley's potential absence could pose a significant challenge for the Wildcats as they navigate the remainder of their conference schedule. Younger receivers on the roster may be called upon to step into larger roles if the freshman misses extended playing time.
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 197 pounds, Mosley arrived in Tucson as the highest-rated member of Arizona's 2026 recruiting class. A four-star prospect hailing from Pittsburg High School in California, he had attracted scholarship offers from prominent programs such as Georgia, Stanford, UCLA, and Utah.
Before joining the collegiate ranks, Mosley put up stellar numbers during his senior high school season, hauling in 82 receptions for 1,302 yards and 14 touchdowns. In limited action with the Wildcats prior to Saturday, he had accumulated six receptions for 99 yards.
The injury unfolded during a tightly contested conference battle between two 6-1 teams holding identical 3-1 Big 12 records. Entering the contest already managing several roster injuries, the Wildcats faced further depth concerns as Texas Tech ultimately secured a 34-26 victory to snap Arizona's five-game winning streak.
