The Anaheim Ducks (7-7-1) travel to face the Edmonton Oilers (11-2-3) on Thursday night at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The game, scheduled for an 8 p.m. ET puck drop, marks the beginning of a four-game homestand for the Oilers, who are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.

Anaheim enters the contest with momentum following a 5-4 victory over the Vancouver Canucks earlier this week. Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier has been a focal point of the team's offense, recently becoming the first player in franchise history to record back-to-back hat tricks. Gauthier has tallied eight goals over his last three games, with six of those coming on the power play. His performance has helped propel the Ducks to the top of the NHL in power-play efficiency at 38.0 percent.

Reflecting on his recent scoring streak, Gauthier noted the significance of his achievement, stating, "Obviously, a really special moment, but really happy we got the two wins in a row and we can keep this thing going." He also acknowledged the historical company he has joined, adding, "Something you definitely dream of as a kid. Very blessed to be in this position."

The Oilers, meanwhile, are led by captain Connor McDavid, who has extended his season-opening assist and point streaks to 16 games. McDavid currently holds 31 assists and 40 points on the season. The game against Anaheim will also be a notable occasion for forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who recently became the Oilers' all-time leader in games played, reaching 1,038 appearances to surpass Hockey Hall of Famer Kevin Lowe.

Regarding his milestone, Nugent-Hopkins expressed gratitude toward his organization, saying, "I'm very lucky and fortunate to have been able to hit this milestone with this team. It really is a testament to a lot of these guys in this room, and not just the players but the staff, the trainers that have been here for my entire career." Despite the recent shootout loss, forward Leon Draisaitl remains optimistic about the team's trajectory, noting that the group is "trending in a good spot and trending in the right direction."

Both teams are expected to maintain their current lineups for the matchup. Ducks coach Joel Quenneville confirmed there will be no changes following Tuesday's win in Vancouver. For Edmonton, goaltender Devon Levi is expected to dress as the backup, marking his return to the roster after missing six games due to an undisclosed injury.

Betting markets currently favor the Oilers, though analysts suggest the Ducks could present a challenge given their recent form and the travel schedule. While the Oilers are heavy favorites on the moneyline, the Ducks' recent success with the man-advantage and their established road rhythm may play a factor in the outcome of tonight's game.
