Election Day has arrived, bringing voters to polling places across various regions to decide critical local races, state contests, and high-profile national matchups. In Metro Detroit, polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, while voting locations in central Texas operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters in Michigan who are uncertain where to cast their ballots can access the Michigan Voter Information Center online. Through this portal, residents can verify their registration status, look up designated polling locations and hours, find drop box sites, review sample ballots, and track absentee ballots.

Meanwhile, Texas voters are deciding the outcomes of several major elections, including a closely watched U.S. Senate contest between Democratic nominee state Representative James Talarico and Republican nominee Attorney General Ken Paxton. Texans are also voting on local races involving county judges, commissioners, prosecutors, state lawmakers, and school board trustees.

Communities across the Austin area, including Travis, Hays, Williamson, and Bastrop counties, have provided detailed voting maps and ZIP code directories to help residents locate their polling places. In Hays County, officials noted that vote centers allow registered voters to cast their ballots at any designated location regardless of their specific precinct.

To participate in Texas elections, voters are required to present an acceptable form of photo identification. According to VoteTexas.gov, approved documents include a Texas driver's license, a Texas election identification certificate, a personal identification card, a handgun license, a U.S. military identification card, a U.S. citizenship certificate containing a photograph, or a U.S. passport.

For individuals who do not possess one of the mandated photo IDs and cannot reasonably obtain one, alternative procedures are available at the polling places. Voters in this situation may complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and provide a supporting document, such as a utility bill, bank statement, government check, or voter registration certificate, to cast their ballots.

As voting continues throughout the day, election officials remind citizens to verify their local hours and requirements before heading out. Live updates and election results will be broadcast and published by local news outlets as polls close and the vote-counting process gets underway.
