The UEFA Champions League continues on Wednesday with a packed schedule of high-profile matches across Europe, though preparations for several games have been disrupted by off-field developments. Among the early fixtures, Como is set to host Manchester United at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, but an orange weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms across northern Italy has cast doubt on the match.

The severe weather alert issued for the Lombardy region points to heavy downpours and potential thunderstorms around kick-off time. Because the stadium sits directly beside Lake Como and features only one fully covered stand, supporters could face difficult conditions. Despite the forecast, Como officials remain confident that the pitch will cope. Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick also downplayed the immediate concerns, noting that his players are accustomed to playing in the rain.

UEFA has not announced any postponement, leaving both clubs and fans waiting for final updates as officials continuously monitor conditions at the venue. Manchester United enters the match looking for a response following a 2-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid in their previous European outing and a 1-1 draw against Leeds United in domestic play. Meanwhile, Como is enjoying its debut season in the Champions League under head coach Cesc Fàbregas, having opened their campaign with a home victory over RB Leipzig before falling away to Feyenoord.

Elsewhere in the competition, one of the marquee fixtures of the evening takes place in Bavaria, where Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich welcome Premier League champions Arsenal. Bayern enters the match with an impressive home record, having gone 39 home Champions League group-stage or league-phase matches without defeat. Furthermore, striker Harry Kane has scored in nine consecutive appearances in the competition.

Arsenal arrives in Germany riding a strong run of form after winning their last 14 Champions League league-phase matches. However, Bayern will have to navigate the high-stakes encounter without midfielder Joshua Kimmich. The German club announced that Kimmich will miss the match following a family bereavement, with German newspaper Bild reporting the passing of his father, Berthold Kimmich.

Bayern Munich expressed full support for the midfielder, asking for privacy for the player and his family during this difficult time. Kimmich's absence forces the Bavarian side to reorganize its midfield for the demanding European fixture, presenting a significant sporting challenge as they prepare to face the English side.

The evening schedule also features Real Madrid hosting RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabéu. Real Madrid looks to extend a streak that includes scoring in each of their last 44 home Champions League matches, while forward Kylian Mbappé aims to continue his personal scoring run of four straight appearances in the tournament. Additional Wednesday fixtures include Lille against Galatasaray, Aston Villa facing Viking, Club Brugge taking on Lens, Inter Milan meeting Shakhtar Donetsk, Real Betis playing Feyenoord, and Sporting CP hosting LASK.
