The United States Embassy in Moscow issued a security alert warning of a potential mass casualty event at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in the Russian capital. The diplomatic mission stated that it was aware of a credible threat targeting the cultural site, which is located in a large park in the southern zone of the city.

The embassy advised American citizens and the general public to completely avoid the area. The advisory instructed individuals to stay alert, avoid crowds, monitor local media, keep mobile devices charged, carry identification documents, and review their personal security plans.

Following the alert, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) acknowledged receiving information from American partners regarding a planned attack in Moscow. The FSB stated through state news agency TASS that the necessary operations and responses were being carried out.

Local monitoring through the Russian Telegram channel Baza indicated that authorities quickly moved to secure the location. The palace and park grounds were closed to visitors, access was heavily restricted, and security forces alongside K-9 units were deployed to patrol the premises.

The Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve is a prominent historical destination originally founded in 1775 as a summer residence for Empress Catherine II. The sprawling grounds feature neo-Gothic palaces, forests, ponds, and bridges, drawing millions of visitors and local residents for recreation and events.

This security alert arrives against a backdrop of heightened tensions and previous attacks in the region. In March 2024, a major assault claimed by the Islamic State group targeted the Crocus City Hall on the outskirts of Moscow, resulting in significant casualties and highlighting ongoing security vulnerabilities at public venues in the country.
