Texans Preparing for Week 7 Matchup Following Thrilling Win Over Jaguars

Houston looks to build momentum against the New York Giants after securing a narrow victory in London last weekend.

The Houston Texans are preparing to host the New York Giants this Sunday afternoon at Reliant Stadium in a Week 7 NFL matchup. Houston enters the contest holding a 2-4 record, looking to build upon a thrilling 34-31 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London last weekend.

The Texans' recent momentum follows a difficult start to the season that featured four consecutive losses to Buffalo, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Dallas, with three of those defeats coming by a combined 11 points. Following their narrow loss margin early on, the team bounced back with a 26-3 road win against Tennessee before defeating the Jaguars.

Houston currently sits in third place in the NFC South with a 2-4 record, trailing the division-leading Jacksonville Jaguars by two games. Meanwhile, the New York Giants arrive in Houston with a 3-2-1 record, holding first place in the NFC East despite dropping a 34-17 decision to New Orleans and tying the Commanders in their previous two outings.

As the Texans prepare for Sunday's game, head coach DeMeco Ryans announced that wide receiver Tank Dell is set to make his long-awaited return to the field after missing nearly two years due to a knee injury sustained in Week 15 of the 2024 season against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Due to his extended absence, Ryans stated that the team will take a cautious approach with Dell's workload rather than immediately thrusting him into an every-down role. "I expect Tank just to be himself, and just play the offense the right way," Ryans said during a Monday press conference. "No huge expectations for what he needs to do. We're all just going to be excited... I'm just thankful, grateful for him to have this opportunity to return."

Dell will join an offensive unit that already features weapons such as Nico Collins, Marvin Harrison, and Jaylin Noel. Analysts project that Dell could see a limited snap count of roughly 10 to 15 offensive looks as he is gradually integrated back into the active lineup.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud will also look to continue his strong performance, aiming for his fourth consecutive game with a completion rate above 65 percent, at least 260 passing yards, a touchdown pass, and a quarterback rating of 105 or higher. Defensively, defensive end Will Anderson leads the NFL with 7.5 sacks heading into the weekend matchup.
