Susanna Griso Discusses Electoral Campaign and Recalls Past On-Air Fainting Incident
The veteran television host reflected on her extensive career during a recent appearance on a popular entertainment program.
Television journalist Susanna Griso recently appeared on the entertainment program "El Hormiguero," hosted by Pablo Motos, to discuss her long career and current professional projects. During the interview, Griso shared insights regarding upcoming political campaigns and reflected on memorable moments from her past work in broadcasting.
Turning to the political landscape, Griso and the host evaluated the outlook for the upcoming electoral campaign scheduled for November 29. Both broadcasters agreed that the political race is shaping up to be exceptionally intense and marked by a strong emotional component.
The host of "Espejo Público" noted that initial actions by representatives from various political parties suggest a highly unusual contest ahead. "We are going to see things that we have never seen," Griso stated during the conversation while analyzing the early stages of the campaign.
Aside from political commentary, Griso revisited her extensive career in television news, particularly her time anchoring the afternoon news broadcast prior to leading her current morning program for over two decades. The journalist recalled a critical and surreal moment from her earlier years when she was pregnant and anchoring the 15:00 hours news segment.
Reflecting on the physical toll of that period, Griso explained how fatigue, low blood pressure, and a lack of food combined to overwhelm her during a live broadcast. "It was the typical day when I did not eat anything and it caught me with low blood pressure," she told the audience.
Displaying strict professional composure, Griso managed to maintain her presentation through the general news segment. However, her body gave way the exact moment the broadcast transitioned to the weather report. "When I gave way to the weather, I fainted," she recounted, describing the episode with humor as being "like something out of a movie."
The situation was swiftly handled thanks to the quick response of the studio technical crew. The camera operators intervened immediately, carrying the presenter away to prevent her from collapsing on camera during the closing sequence of the program, which featured a wide tracking shot as the broadcast concluded.
Griso's reflections provided viewers with a look behind the scenes of live television production, combining personal anecdotes from her career with commentary on the upcoming political events.
