The Sudurpaschim Royals secured a 39-run victory over the Karnali Yaks in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), overcoming a stunning, unbeaten century performance from David Miller. Batting first after losing the toss, the Royals posted a competitive total of 176 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Openers Saif Zaib and Binod Bhandari provided a strong start for the batting side, putting together a 68-run partnership for the first wicket. Zaib top-scored for his team with 35 runs off 24 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six, while Bhandari contributed 27 runs from 22 deliveries, which included two sixes and two fours. Brandon McMullen chipped in with 24 runs off 16 balls at the number three position.

Additional momentum came in the latter half of the innings as Ishan Pandey blasted 23 runs from just 13 deliveries, featuring three sixes. Tharindu Ratnayake remained unbeaten with 22 runs off 12 balls, and Scott Kuggeleijn added a quick, unbeaten 13 runs off six deliveries. For the Karnali Yaks, Mark Watt led the bowling attack by claiming two wickets for 27 runs, supported by Nandan Yadav, Surya Tamang, Hussain Talat, and Pawan Sarraf, who each captured a single wicket.

In response, the Karnali Yaks struggled heavily from the outset, losing two early wickets before reaching the 20-run mark. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, though Deepak Dumre offered brief resistance with 18 runs off 12 balls. David Miller fought valiantly to keep his team in contention, putting on a magnificent and explosive display with an unbeaten 93 runs off 55 balls, striking five fours and seven sixes.

Despite Miller's heroic efforts, he received very little support from the other end of the pitch. Captain Sompal Kami managed only eight runs, Pawan Sarraf contributed five, and no other batter managed to cross the 20-run threshold as Karnali ultimately finished their innings at 137 for seven in 20 overs.

Scott Kuggeleijn anchored the Royals' bowling defense by securing two wickets for 39 runs. Meanwhile, Hemant Dhami, Anil Kharel, Dipendra Singh Airee, Tharindu Ratnayake, and Abinash Bohara each picked up one wicket apiece to seal the convincing 39-run win.

The match forms part of the third season of the Nepal Premier League, which runs from October 26 through November 21. Featuring eight competing franchises playing at the Kirtipur venue, the tournament requires each team to play seven league matches before the top four contenders advance to the playoffs scheduled for mid-November.
